Welcome to Summer Soundtrack 2020! Here are a few things you might like to know.
1 - This collection of songs, many of them written for the Ocean Grove Children's Show, are shared here so you can learn and perform them in your own home, or backyard, or wherever.
2 - There are a few names you'll see on these pages: Jen, Cherie', Allyson, Meredith, Elizabeth, Cathy, David. These are members of the Ocean Grove Children's Show staff. They are here to share encouraging thoughts, ideas, and suggestions with you.
3 - To help you learn the music, we have included some of the original "songwriter demos." These are not professional recordings, but they represent important memories in the history of the Ocean Grove Children's Show. This is how we shared the songs with each other back in the days when they were first written. We hope you will enjoy stepping back in time with us!
4 - On each song page, you'll find the following descriptions and resources. First you will see the song title and some information. It will look like this:
Next, we'll explain what's happening in the story when this song is presented, followed by several boxes—"Narration" is a short paragraph you can read to your audience before performing this song. "Lyrics" contains the song's words, and may sometimes include lines from the script. "Demo Track" is the demonstration recording. "Music Track" is the recording of just the background music.
Important Note: Demo Track opens in a new tab, which means you can start the Demo Track, come back to the tab for the current song page, and then open the Lyrics to sing along. This will help you when you are learning.
(You can click the boxes below to see how they work.)
Here you'll see a narration you can read before performing this piece.
Here you'll find the song lyrics (and sometimes a few lines from the script.)
This is where you'll find a link to the demonstration recording.
Note: the demo track opens in a new tab. You can start the demo playing, return to the tab with the lyrics, and then sing along.
Here you'll find the link for the Music Track, which you can play when you are performing.
In Materials, you will find resources you can download. If you right-click on a resource (control-click on Mac), you can download and save the resource to a folder on your computer.
For example, you can create a folder on your computer called "SummerSoundtrack2020" and then save the .pdf and .mp3 files to the folder.
